Thomas June 2018 Our family enjoyed the solitude in a rural setting. The cabin is very nice and TJ is great to communicate with.

Jodi W. said...Apr 12, 2018Comfortable cabin, met expectations  This cabin was as expected and explained by the property owner and VRBO. The furniture is a little dated but everything was clean and well stocked for a comfortable stay. The property is a little tricky to get to the first time, so be sure to do as the listing says and follow instructions carefully and plan to get there before dark. Many of the neighboring houses and neighboring properties were in a run down condition, but the area was quiet and I felt safe. My kids were very appreciative of the cable TV and Wi-Fi when we returned to the cabin after a tiring day of kayaking and exploring. The property is about a 30 minute drive to the many springs in the area... we visited Silver Springs, Juniper Springs and Alexander Springs....which I highly recommend. It is also only a short drive to Lake Weir. The kids were able to play on the beach there while the adults watched on and ate an appetizer ate Gator Joe's Restaurant..... which I highly recommend as well. I appreciated that the property manager messaged me prior to arrival and again on arrival to make sure that we did not need anything or have any questions. I would stay at this cabin again if we return to the area.   4 stars

Carly J. said...  May 24, 2018 Amazing nature! We had an amazing stay! Simple cabin in the woods- nothing fancy & perfect for us. The kitchen was well stocked and had more than we needed. The symphony of frogs every night from the pond out back was beyond incredible. Two dogs Daisy and Sue came over every morning to sit with us as we had our coffee on the porch. Too sweet! If your interested in birds, this spot is ideal. On the property we saw a few Cooper’s hawks, wild peacocks, great horned owl just to name a few. We went hiking and to different springs everyday then back to TJs place to make a yummy dinner and listen to the frog symphony. It was delightful. Writing this review is really making me want to go back!  5 Star

Stacey March 2018 Quite getaway and courteous host. We would stay there again if in the area.

David February 2018 A very quiet peaceful place.

Mary December 2017 TJ's house was very warm and cozy, we immediately felt at home. Not fancy, but we weren't expecting fancy (it's a camp). The kitchen was very well equipped, plenty of towels and linens, the wifi was great, there was a printer with paper ready to be hooked to your computer, and phone chargers set up ready to go! Enjoyed hearing the Sandhill cranes and saw two wading in the water down by the old pier. Our dog Buddy enjoyed being outside taking in the sights and sounds of the neighborhood, which was very peaceful. Follow the instructions carefully when you first arrive. The neighborhood is kind of a maze, but after a day you should figure it out with the help of (Hidden by Airbnb) map. Good location to explore the area. We enjoyed several hikes, especially the Yearling trail.

Tom November 2016 This is a wonderful little cabin in the country. You absolutely need to heed the owner's advice to not try to find it in the dark! Your GPS will not help!

Date of Stay: Aug 18, 2017 "This cabin is away from it all. Was clean and cozy. Was thrilled it was pet friendly, especially for our large dog. Loved the yard for the dog. Was able to cook and relax after our days of site-seeing. Linens were included which was a plus. TJ was most helpful in answering our questions promptly. The swamp was quite interesting especially at night. Really loved the peace and quiet. Thanks for a great stay. PS Daisy did come visit.""

Orlando April 2017 We had a pleasant stay in the rustic cabin in the woods. Everything in the home worked well and we enjoyed a cool evening huddling around the fire ring outside. In the afternoons it was common to see the local flock of friendly peacocks make their rounds past an adjacent lot. The yard is large with beautiful oaks providing plenty of shade. Our host, TJ, was very hospitable and provided plenty of recommendations on local attractions. Thank you very much and I hope to return soon!

Gail January 2017 We wanted to escape to the woods over New Year's and enjoyed being 'off the grid' at TJ's cabin. Definitely heed TJ's advice to arrive during daylight hours. You will lose GPS/ (Hidden by Airbnb) Maps before you get to the cabin and the string of roads and lanes (many unpaved) leading to the cabin can be confusing the first time you go there. We took screenshots off (Hidden by Airbnb) Maps beforehand, so we could refer to them once we lost cellphone coverage. The immediate neighborhood is a mix of trailer homes and regular homes, some in better condition than others. The lots are all quite large and most seem to be fenced in. Lots of large trees and shady canopy everywhere. The cabin feels somewhat remote, but you are not far from a convenience mart and a Dollar Store (a big one); you are not too far outside Ocklawaha, and you are very well positioned to visit the Ocala National Forest's springs & trails. We visited Salt Springs, Alexander Springs, and Silver Glen Springs (we'd been to Juniper before). All are well worth a visit. The cabin interior is as pictured. Everything was clean. We saw no bugs. The kitchen had everything we needed--plenty of pots, pans, utensils, glass-top oven, a microwave, large fridge, coffee maker, toaster, etc. We only ate out once, and that was at the very friendly, inexpensive, and popular Duck Dam Diner, which is not far away. (They are chiefly a breakfast and lunch operation, but on Friday, they are open for dinner as well.) We had the fried steak and Alaskan pollack. To be honest, to us the food was so-so, although the peach cobbler we had for dessert was delicious. The big TV in the cabin is great. Plenty of channels and Roku offers lots of movie choices. The Wi-Fi was great to have as well. On the cabin grounds, it is very peaceful. A neighbor's sweet and friendly dog visited us several times. We never saw any people apart from those in the cars/trucks that very rarely passed by. In terms of wildlife, we saw sandhill cranes, a flock of robins, egrets, a peacock (!) and plenty of squirrels. We would definitely go back to stay there should we decide to visit the forest again and get out of the rat race!

Date of Stay: Jan 22, 2017 "The cabin is old but very clean (clean, dry,& warm) for winter stay. It was about 1 miles on sand roads from main hwy to the cabin. We enjoyed the quiet and having Daisy come and visit us. Dale would walk on the sand roads around cabin and into the National Forest everyday The neighbors were all friendly. Great internet and cable tv-a great quiet get-a- way for snowbirds!"

Date of Stay: Oct 21, 2016 "Our family loved the vintage feel of this cabin and the secluded grounds under the shady oaks! We spent a comfortable three nights in the forest retreat. We enjoyed having a fire in the fire pit and grilling suppers which we are at the picnic table. Beautiful surroundings and gracious accommodations. TJ was easy to correspond with and very helpful. We loved it! Hope to return to the little red cabin in the forest!"

Date of Stay: Sep 9, 2016 "What a great getaway! The house was very cozy, and provided everything for a very comfortable stay. This is a great location for anyone looking to visit the Villages, Ocala, Silver Springs, or Lake Weir. Safe and quiet area, with plenty of beautiful wildlife to make everyday exciting and interesting for my 6 and 4 year old. The wifi and home amenities kept us very comfortable for our month visit, and the children and dogs wanted to stay FOREVER!! We are looking forward to visiting again soon and enjoying more of the Spring areas and the Forest! Thanks for a great visit!"

Kimberly August 2016 We arrived late, but it was really easy to access the cabin. TJ communicated with us as needed and was very responsive/helpful when questions arose. I would definitely stay at this property again and hope I can visit one of TJ's other properties in the future!

Glen June 2016 If you are looking for a nice quiet place to spend time then this is perfect. Just enough space and a great price. The host doesnt bother you. It is like owning your own little country getaway. Worth every penny.

Date of Stay: Jun 30, 2016 "Me and my family had a great time. We enjoyed the view the nature. How quiet it was. No body said a word. And that there was wifi since we didn't have any service. But overall we had a wonderful time."

Date of Stay: Feb 13, 2016 "We really enjoyed our stay in Ocklawaha. This house was very clean and well stocked with everything you may need. It was quiet and peaceful . The neighbors were friendly and we found a few good restaurants. (Gator Joe's, The Dam). The owner was very accommodating, and made the check in process simple. We are looking forward to staying here again!"

Date of Stay: Dec 19, 2015 "Great hideaway nestled in the forest. It is centrally located near hiking, fishing, boating, swimming and snorkeling sites. Our purpose for this stay was for rest and relaxation over the holidays. This worked just fine for us. This cabin is in a quiet and laid back neighborhood. We also were able to entertain out of town family members during our stay. We enjoyed making s’mores around the fire pit with the kids. There also was an abundance of wildlife to enjoy and photograph. The locally grown winter fruits were a real treat. The landlord, T.J., is one of the nicest people you will ever meet. Would definitely stay here again."

Date of Stay: Nov 23, 2015 "We booked to get away from the city into the countryside. The cabin was perfect for our needs as a base camp for excursions into the forest. Beds were comfortable and we were even able to watch the football games after a long day of paddling in the nearby springs. The kitchen was sufficient to cook an entire Thanks Giving meal. The dock is a prime location to view the stars. We had a great time."

Testimonials From Guest that stayed at 2 bedroom Fenced for Dogs

Estella s. said...May 7, 2018   My family and I really enjoyed staying at T. J.Tompkins property. The house was very clean and the four of us got a lot of rest that was needed. Mr. Tompkins thought of everything that we might need and put it in the home. The neighborhood was quiet and the neighbors were very friendly. The only problem I had was after one week in the home I had no internet service and could not use my computer for three weeks. My husband and I enjoyed sitting on the back porch late in the evening or sitting in front of the home speaking with the neighbors as they walked by. If I ever need to do this again, I would call Mr. Tompkins in a heartbeat. I will also tell my family and friends about this home and how nice Mr. Tompkins was to us. I just want to say thank you for letting us rent your property for a month and for being there for us when we needed a place to stay. Respectfully yours, Estella simon

Jo-Anne S. said...Mar 15, 2018  Great little house for a vacation stay. The house was very small but great for three people for a short stay. The house was very clean. The kitchen had everything we needed to cook our meals at home. The fenced yard was great for the dog. The neighborhood was very quiet. The house was centrally located so we could go out and visit places. It was close to Orlando, Clearwater and Tarpon Springs. Shopping was near buying. TJ was very helpful and responded quickly when the air conditioner stopped working. The one negative thing I have to include is the beds. They were very uncomfortable. The master bedroom bed was not as bad except if you were two people you rolled into the middle.

Hermine R. said...Dec 21, 2016  Cozy Cottage With Large Fenced Yard The rental is comfortably furnished with a well equipped kitchen. The location is close to various Tampa attractions. TJ was a pleasure to deal with. My dogs loved the large back yard with pet door access!!!

Frank S. said...Mar 3, 2016 Quiet area, small home, move in ready The smallness of the home was perfect for a few people who were gone, basically, but home to sleep.. appliances, furniture, beds, we're all comfortable n in great shape. Not a lot of storage area but back porch sufficed for boxes etc. The bathroom was very small but we made it work for us. Bright, clean, big fenced in yard, back patio and grill all made life enjoyable n homey. It was situated away from most tourists sites n beaches, but the neighborhood was quite, safe and private. The owner was available for questions and we have no complaints and highly recommend this home for a temporary stay. We spent the month of February here..2016.

Bernard N. said...Aug 9, 2018  Great location and quiet. This is a cute house in a very quiet neighborhood and just about everything was provided for us, right down to the laundry soap. The care we received was top notch. Air conditioning unit was BRAND NEW when we arrived and it kept the place nice and cool. There is even a doggie door in the dining room for your pooch to wander outside when they choose into a nice fenced in backyard. (watch them though, they can be sneaky if they want to get out). The local owners are very hands-on and take great care of the property. You are close to just about everything if you're vacationing or even relocating like ourselves. A short drive to a Publix Supermarket with a liquor store, Aldi's, CVS, Walgreens, Starbucks, Home Depot, Malls and many restaurants either local or chain. 25 minutes to the beaches and 15 minutes to the airport on a good day. We had zero issues with this property, however, there are some things we feel could use some improvement. - The seating in the living room is limited to 3 people. There is only a very small love seat and single stuffed chair, so if you're more than 3 people it's going to be cramped. This could be eliminated by providing inexpensive 20" TV's in all of the bedrooms which would allow others to rest and relax in the evening in their rooms watching TV. - There is no dishwasher, so be prepared if you have a large family to wash a lot of dishes. - The over the stove microwave is rather high, it's actually too high. (the over the stove fan worked but the light did not) - There is carpet in the living room and bedrooms....and the living room carpet was showing signs of wear and some smells. Tile or even linoleum wood might serve best in at least the high traffic areas. We would stay again.

Brittany H. said...Apr 6, 2018   House was very nice, backyard needs work. The house is small but it was perfect for my family of 5. It had just about everything we needed for cooking and was nice home away from home. We couldn't get the wifi to work it may have been an error on my end but after a few attempts I didn't bother with it anymore. The patio set and outdoor area needs improvements. The trashcans were full when we arrived so there was really no where to put our trash while we were there. The backyard had some clothes hangers laying around, not sure why. Overall the house is nice, probably a little cramped for 6 but it was good for my family.

Cheyenne T. said...Mar 13, 2018  Cozy, Easy Stay! We really enjoyed our stay at this location. It's a small place for six, given that there's only one bathroom, but we knew that going in. Two of the three bedrooms have double beds, so just know that if you're doubling up it might be a little cramped for two in every bedroom, depending on what you're used to; however, there is an extra air mattress in the closet and room in the living room for it, which was very welcome and appreciated. As far as what the owner has done with the place, we found ourselves very comfortable! Especially for the price, which was very reasonable; sometimes you worry such a low price will mean low quality, but not so here! The owner made it extremely easy for us to get settled with code access and a guest book with instructions for the TV/Roku. We had some trouble with the WiFi, but we didn't investigate/try hard to fix it, so I'm sure it's a small issue that could have been solved with any degree of effort on our part. The shower also drained a little slow, but that's no big deal (the water pressure was great, so that made up for it). The drive into downtown Tampa was very reasonable, too (our event was at the Convention Center). If you're looking for a small, cozy place to stay outside of Tampa with no frills but still everything you need, this is a great option!

Ian C. said...Mar 18, 2018 House is as advertised, the back yard needs work. This house is an older home in a neighbourhood that is being revitalized. The house was clean and is freshly painted. The property manager TJ is helpful and always available to answer any questions we had. Our damage deposit was promptly returned. We appreciated being able to bring our dog. There is a great dog park on Waters Ave 10 min drive away. Groceries and any other stores are close by. The yard was large and fenced but ground was uneven with a septic system and there was no patio, just an old set of table and chairs that was not inviting at all. The yard was not raked, lawn cut once in 4 weeks and the worst of it was that we had to clean up after the last renter's dog after we were provided with a shovel (4 bags full). We spent most of our time away from the property seeking pleasant places to be outside. Fort Desoto dog beach is 45 mins away, Safety Harbor 25 mins away, Dunedin 35 mins away, are all pleasant areas to enjoy with your dog. You most definitely need a car to stay here because nothing is within walking distance. The 275 HWY is very busy and intimidating so we preferred coasting down the 580 HWY to get places. We were grateful to find this rental fairly last minute as our rental in St Petersburg fell through. The weather was amazing and made for wonderful beach days. We are veteran vacation tenants so we have lots to compare this property to. The outdoor space needs work to make it a true vacation rental.

Testimonials From Guests that stayed at Walk to Raymond James Stadium

Natalia June 2018 This place was very spacious and very close to Raymond James stadium. We were not in town for a concert, but decided to go since we were so close. Short walk, great yard and perfect for any event at Raymond James. TJ was very responsive and called to help us whenever we had a question. Also very centrally located in Tampa. Lots of food and shopping around, quick shot to South Tampa and beaches!

John May 2018 TJ’s place is walking distance from the stadium so highly recommend if you have an event there. There were a few roaches inside the house but overall everything was fine. Check in was easy with the lock and would definitely stay again.

Allison January 2018 This is a really amazing place.

Jen January 2018 This house is cute and in great shape. It was a perfect place for our family of 4, our kids absolutely LOVED the enormous fenced in back yard. The house was clean and TJ even left a nice "welcome" card for us. The location was to die for, for us, as we were there for a Tampa Bay Bucs football game and it was easily walkable, saving us from parking $ and keeping us out of traffic. I can see this house being perfect for any event in that area be it a football game, a concert and spring training games. Also, it is a very quick & easy drive to Ybor City and some of the attractions around there: restaurants, the aquarium, etc. We would totally come back again!!!

Jeff December 2017 Awesome spot when you r in town for Raymond James Stadium

It would be a great place to stay if you were going to games or an event at Raymond James Stadium or Steinbrenner Field

Ha H. said... Dec 5, 2016  Great Location, comfortable! The location is perfect, and close to the main attractions I like in Tampa. Easy access to the airport, International Mall, downtown, Hyde Park, South Tampa. The house is cozy and comfortable, typical bungalow feel. Best part about staying at the Woodlawn house is the location and the porch was great for relaxing with a glass of wine. Uber anywhere in Tampa in about 10 minutes. This location is right in heart of Tampa.

Testimonials From Long-Term Renters

"Tampa-HomeSeekers.com was instrumental in us moving comfortably to the Tampa Area from Dallas Texas. I just landed a new teaching job and I needed to move my whole family to this area. We searched for a few weeks for a nice house to live in and most of the classified ads were confusing, or vague. If you were not a local already you might be lost as to where the house was, and if you had not looked for a home in while, you often could not decipher the abbreviations."

"With the HomeSeekers website, the organization was plain to understand, and each living space was photographed and posted on the site so that you could click on a picture and see what the inside and outside of the house looked like. The photographs were so important to us because we were out of state. We hated to make a decision blind and being able to look at the house was immeasurably important. My kids enjoyed seeing a pool and my wife enjoyed that as well as palm trees growing outside. Overall, I have to admit that the Homeseekers website was irreplaceable in us deciding to move into this very house. Great Work T.J.!!"
